Overview
Diani Beach is Kenya's most celebrated beach destination, a 25-kilometre arc of talcum-white sand backed by swaying palms and fronted by the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Consistently ranked among Africa's finest beaches, Diani combines natural beauty, world-class water sports, and a sophisticated hospitality scene that has made it the preferred coastal escape for discerning travellers worldwide.
A coral reef running parallel to the shore creates a sheltered lagoon ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and kayaking, while beyond the reef, the deep blue Indian Ocean teems with big game fish, dolphins, and during migration season, humpback whales. The reef, part of the Kenya Barrier Reef, the world's second longest, is a world-class dive destination.
Diani is also East Africa's kite surfing capital, with consistent trade winds from January to March and July to September. Away from the water, the Colobus Conservation Centre, the sacred Kaya Kinondo forest (UNESCO-listed), and Shimba Hills National Reserve add a compelling wildlife and cultural dimension.
Diani is most naturally combined with a Maasai Mara or Amboseli safari for the classic Kenya bush-and-beach experience.
