Masai Mara National Reserve

The Masai Mara National Reserve is Kenya's most iconic safari destination and one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth. Stretching across 1,510 km² of golden savannah in southwestern Kenya, the Mara forms the northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem — a seamless wilderness that has sustained Africa's most magnificent wildlife for millennia.

The reserve is the stage for the Great Wildebeest Migration, considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. Each year, over 1.5 million wildebeest, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebra and gazelle, thunder north from Tanzania's Serengeti in search of fresh pasture, braving the crocodile-filled Mara River in breathtaking crossings that are among the most dramatic wildlife events in the world.

Beyond the Migration, the Mara is home to the densest concentration of predators in Africa. Resident lion prides, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and African wild dogs roam the open plains year-round, while elephants, buffaloes, and hippos populate the riverbanks. The Mara consistently delivers the Big Five and extraordinary predator-prey interactions.

Surrounding the national reserve, a network of private conservancies — including Olare Motorogi, Naboisho, Ol Kinyei, and Mara North — offer an exclusive extension of the Mara experience with lower vehicle density, night game drives, walking safaris, and fly-camping that are not permitted inside the main reserve.
